Functional Ability (FAE / FCE)
Functional ability is the ability of an individual to perform normal day-to-day activities necessary for maintaining health and well-being. These may include getting out of bed, taking a bath, using the toilet, cooking and eating, and indicates a person’s ability to live independently in a community. Injury, disability, chronic conditions and old age may impede these basic functions of every-day living.
Functional abilities evaluation is determining the functional abilities and physical fitness of an employee before return to work after injury or disability. The assessment helps determine levels of impairment and disability, measures the ability to resume work and finds ways for active rehabilitation.
