Cardiology / Internal Medicine
Cardiology
Cardiology deals with disorders of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system). Cardiologists diagnose and treat heart failure, congenital heart defects, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and cardiac rhythm disorders. They work closely with heart surgeons, supervise drug and other heart related therapies, perform studies of basic heart-functions, and provide ongoing care and management of heart patients.
Internal Medicine
Internal medicine is the diagnosis, treatment and management of both common and complex illnesses. An internist has special training in diagnosing and treating infections and diseases of the kidneys, heart, joints, blood, respiratory, vascular and digestive system, as well as cancer.
